Yahya Yakhlif is a Palestinian writer and a novelist. He was born in Samakh, a Palestinian village that was abandoned during the 1948 Palestinian exodus, four years after Yakhlif's birth. Consequently, Yakhlif and his family became displaced refugees.

Richard Gerald Wilkinson is a British social epidemiologist, author, advocate, and left-wing political activist. He is Professor Emeritus of Social Epidemiology at the University of Nottingham, having retired in 2008. He is also Honorary Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London and Visiting Professor at University of York. In 2009, Richard co-founded The Equality Trust. Richard was awarded a 2013 Silver Rose Award from Solidar for championing equality and the 2014 Charles Cully Memorial Medal by the Irish Cancer Society.

Herbert Kenneth Kunen was a professor of mathematics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison who worked in set theory and its applications to various areas of mathematics, such as set-theoretic topology and measure theory. He also worked on non-associative algebraic systems, such as loops, and used computer software, such as the Otter theorem prover, to derive theorems in these areas.

Roberto Dias Branco or simply Roberto Dias was a footballer with São Paulo FC in Brazil. He was considered by Pelé to be the greatest Brazilian central defender of the 1960s and 1970s. He was known for his finesse on defense—a player who didn't need to show a rough side. He just knew how to cover and always seemed one step ahead of the forwards he covered—including Pelé. Pelé said that Roberto Dias was the only central defender who could truly mark him. In one game between Pelé's Santos FC and São Paulo FC in the 1967 edition of the Campeonato Paulista, which ended in a 3–3 draw, Dias, kept Pelé scoreless while scoring 2 goals in the process.

Andrew J. Nathan is a professor of political science at Columbia University. He specializes in Chinese politics, foreign policy, human rights and political culture. Nathan attended Harvard University, where he earned a B.A. in history, an M.A. in East Asian Studies, and a Ph.D. in Political Science. He has taught at Columbia University since 1971, and currently serves as the chair of the steering committee for the Center for the Study of Human Rights. His previous appointments include as the chair of the Department of Political Science (2003–2006), and chair of the Weatherhead East Asian Institute (1991–1995).
