Boris (Boaz) Avraamovich Trakhtenbrot, or Boaz (Boris) Trakhtenbrot was an Israeli and Russian mathematician in mathematical logic, algorithms, theory of computation, and cybernetics. Trakhtenbrot was born in Brichevo, northern Bessarabia. He worked at Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk during the 1960s and 1970s. After immigrating to Israel in 1981, he became a professor in the faculty of Exact sciences of Tel Aviv University, where he was professor emeritus until his death.

Charles Sheldon Whitehouse was an American career diplomat. He was United States Ambassador to Laos and the United States Ambassador to Thailand.

Julien Freund, born in Henridorff on 8 January 1921, died in Colmar, on the tenth of September 1993, is a French philosopher and sociologist. Freund was called an "unsatisfied liberal-conservative" by Pierre-André Taguieff, for introducing France to the ideas of Max Weber. His work as a sociologist and political theorist is a continuation of Carl Schmitt's. Freund was like many people born in this region fluent in German, and he therefore published many of his works in both languages. His works have been translated into nearly 20 languages.

Maurício Matos Peixoto,, was a Brazilian engineer and mathematician. He pioneered the studies on structural stability, and was the author of Peixoto's theorem.
