Sir Basil Ferdinand Jamieson Schonland OMG CBE FRS was noted for his research on lightning, his involvement in the development of radar during World War II and for being the first president of the South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.

Ole Martin Ellefsæter is a retired athlete from Norway. He mostly competed in cross-country skiing, and won two gold medals at the 1968 Winter Olympics. At the 1966 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships he won one gold and one silver (15 km) medal, and in 1971 he became the first Norwegian to win Vasaloppet. Earlier in 1967, Ellefsæter won the 50 km event at the Holmenkollen ski festival, the same year he was awarded the Holmenkollen medal, shared with Toini Gustafsson.

Herman Louis Verlinde is a Dutch theoretical physicist and string theorist. He is the Class of 1909 Professor of Physics at Princeton University, where he is also the Chair of the Department of Physics. He is the identical twin brother of Erik Verlinde.
