Kenneth Hsien-yung Pai is a Chinese writer from Taiwan who has been described as a "melancholy pioneer." He was born in Guilin, Guangxi at the cusp of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Pai's father was the famous Kuomintang (KMT) general Bai Chongxi, whom he later described as a "stern, Confucian father" with "some soft spots in his heart." Pai was diagnosed with tuberculosis at the age of seven, during which time he would have to live in a separate house from his siblings. He lived with his family in Chongqing, Shanghai, and Nanjing before moving to the British-controlled Hong Kong in 1948 as CPC forces turned the tide of the Chinese Civil War. In 1952, Pai and his family resettled in Taiwan, where the KMT had relocated the Republic of China after defeat by the Communists in 1949.

Tengku Razaleigh bin Tengku Mohd Hamzah is a Malaysian politician and Member of Parliament (MP). He is dubbed the Father of Malaysian Economic Development for playing a pivotal role in establishing and implementing key foundations and policies in Malaysia's economy. A descendant of Malay royalty, he is a great-uncle of the current Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V. "Tengku" is a hereditary royal Malay title, equivalent to "Prince/ss."

Tamara Natanovna Press is a retired Soviet athlete who dominated the shot put and discus throw in the early 1960s. She won three gold and one silver medals at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics and three European titles in 1958–1962. Between 1959 and 1965 she set 11 world records: five in the shot put and six in the discus. Domestically, she held 16 national titles, nine in the shot put (1958–66) and seven in the discus (1960–66).

A three-time Emmy Award winner, she won for The Forsyte Saga in 1970, The First Churchills in 1971, and for Vanity Fair in 1973.
