Paul Joseph Steinhardt is an American theoretical physicist whose principal research is in cosmology and condensed matter physics. At DC Comics, he is known for co-creating the superhero Firestorm, the creation of the character Jason Todd and the villain Killer Croc, and for writing the Justice League of America for eight years. Conway wrote the first major, modern-day intercompany crossover, Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man.

He was elected as member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007, a foreign academician of Indian National Science Academy in 2009, a member of the German National Academy of Sciences in 2012, and foreign associate of the US National Academy of Science in 2014.
