Canan Dağdeviren
Canan Dağdeviren is a Turkish academic, physicist, material scientist, and assistant professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she currently holds the LG Career Development Professorship in Media Arts and Sciences. Dagdeviren is the first Turkish scientist in the history of the Harvard Society to become a Junior Fellow in the Society of Fellows at Harvard University. As a faculty member, she directs her own Conformable Decoders research group at the MIT Media Lab. The group works at the intersection of materials science, engineering and biomedical engineering. They create mechanically adaptive electromechanical systems that can intimately integrate with the target object of interest for sensing, actuation, and energy harvesting, among other applications. Dagdeviren believes that vital information from nature and the human body is “coded” in various forms of physical patterns. Her research focuses on the creation of conformable decoders that can “decode” these patterns into beneficial signals and/or energy.
Sean Rodriguez
Sean John Rodriguez is an American professional baseball utility player who is currently a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Angels, Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins. Rodriguez was drafted out of high school by the Angels in the third round of the 2003 Major League Baseball draft. He made his major league debut in 2008. While primarily a second baseman, Rodriguez has played at every position in his MLB career except for catcher.
Gary Peacock
Gary Peacock was an American jazz double bassist. He recorded a dozen albums under his own name, and also performed and recorded with major jazz figures such as Albert Ayler, Paul Bley, and Bill Evans. In addition, he recorded over twenty albums with Keith Jarrett's Standards Trio, which also featured drummer Jack DeJohnette, and which existed for over 30 years. DeJohnette stated that he admired Peacock's "sound, choice of notes, and, above all, the buoyancy of his playing." Pianist Marilyn Crispell called Peacock a "sensitive musician with a great harmonic sense."
