Countess Valentine de Riquet de Caraman was a Belgian princess. She was the daughter of Joseph de Riquet de Caraman-Chimay (1808-1886) and Émilie Pellapra. Her first marriage was to prince Paul de Bauffremont on 13 April 1861, but this ended in divorce in 1875 - she gained custody of her two children and later the same year married Georges Bibescu, son of Gheorghe Bibescu, with whom she had three more children - Georges, Nadège and Georges-Valentin (1880-1941).

Valentine Brown Lawless, 2nd Baron Cloncurry, was an Irish peer, politician and landowner. He lived at Lyons Hill, Ardclough, County Kildare, which his father had purchased from the Aylmer family, and at Maretimo House, Blackrock, Dublin. He is best remembered for his celebrated lawsuit for adultery against his former friend Sir John Piers, who had seduced his first wife, Elizabeth Georgiana Morgan.

He was the elder son of Valentine Gill Hall Jr. and Mary Livingston Ludlow of the Livingston family. Vallie's eldest sister was Anna Rebecca Hall, making him an uncle of First Lady of the United States, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt.
