He was reported as being amidst the throng of trapped passengers on the ship's rear deck in its final moments of descent, audibly praying.

The firm's lavatorial equipment was manufactured at premises in nearby Marlborough Road. The company owned the world's first bath, toilet and sink showroom in King's Road.
