José Antonio Camacho Alfaro is a Spanish former football left back and manager.

José Carlos Mariátegui La Chira was a Peruvian intellectual, journalist, activist and political philosopher. A prolific writer before his early death at the age of 35, he is considered one of the most influential Latin American socialists of the 20th century. Mariátegui's Seven Interpretive Essays on Peruvian Reality (1928) is still widely read in Latin America, and called "one of the broadest, deepest, and most enduring works of the Latin American century". An avowed self-taught Marxist, he insisted that a socialist revolution should evolve organically in Latin America based on local conditions and practices, not the result of mechanically applying a European formula. Although best known as a political thinker, his literary writings have gained attention by scholars.

José Sánchez Mota, better known as José Mota, is a Spanish comedian and actor. He was member, with Juan Antonio Muñoz, of the comedy duo Cruz y Raya between 1989 and 2007 and later he made a solo career as a comedian.

José Calvo Sotelo, 1st Duke of Calvo Sotelo, GE was a Spanish jurist and politician, minister of Finance during the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera and a leading figure of the far right during the Second Republic. His assassination in July 1936 by the bodyguard of Socialist party leader Indalecio Prieto was an immediate prelude to the triggering of the military coup plotted since February 1936, the partial failure of which marked the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.

José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, known as El Marro, The Sledgehammer and the The Brown, is a Mexican suspected drug trafficker and huachicolero. Between 2017 and 2020, he served as the leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL), a criminal group based in Guanajuato, Mexico. He was wanted by the Government of Mexico for his active participation in fuel theft. By June 2020, El Marro's cartel had lost all "soldiers" and was not active in organized crime, due to heavy losses received in the war against CJNG. On 2 August 2020, he was captured by state and federal authorities in Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato and was transported to the maximum security federal prison Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 1, also known as the "Altiplano".

José Antonio Martínez Suárez was an Argentine film director and screenwriter. He worked on more than 20 films between 1949 and 2003. He was the brother of actress Mirtha Legrand.
