Jamīl ibn 'Abd Allāh ibn Ma'mar al-'Udhrī, also known as Jamil Buthayna, was a classical Arabic love poet. He belonged to the Banu 'Udhra tribe which was renowned for its poetic tradition of chaste love.

Jamil Al Sayyed is a Lebanese politician, a current Member of the Parliament of Lebanon, and the former head of Lebanon's Sureté Générale or Lebanese General Security Directorate. He was detained for four years by a law he drafted himself stating that judges can detain a suspect for an indefinite time without trial, from 2005 to 2009, due to his alleged involvement in the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri. He was released on 29 April 2009 due to "inconsistencies in the statements of key witnesses and of a lack of corroborative evidence to support these statements and to the fact that some witnesses had modified their statements and one key witness had expressly retracted his original statement incriminating the persons detained". He was never charged with a crime. He is also a recipient of many International orders and decorations, notably the French Légion d'Honneur, at the garde of “Commandeur”.

Jamil al-Assad was a younger brother of the late Syrian president Hafez al-Assad, and the uncle of present Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad. He served in the Parliament of Syria, called the majlis ash-sha'b from 1971 until his death. He was also commander of a minor militia.

Jamil Mardam Bey, was a Syrian politician. He was born in Damascus to a prominent aristocratic Sunni Ottoman Muslim family. He is a descendant of the Ottoman general, statesman and Grand Vizier Lala Mustafa Pasha. He studied at the school of Political Science in Paris and was a founder of Al-Fatat, the leading opposition party in Ottoman Syria.

Jamil Al-Hejailan is a Saudi diplomat, who served as secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) from 1996 to 2002. He was born in Buraidah, AlQasim region in 1927. He was the ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Germany, Kuwait, and France for 20 years. He served as the first ambassador in history of Kuwait. He brought the first television network to Saudi Arabia. Al-Hejailan was also the first Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the History of Saudi Arabia. He also served as the Minister of Health while also holding the title of Minister of Information and Broadcasting, the only minister in the history of Saudi Arabia to be in charge of two ministries.
