Boris Ivan Balinsky was a Ukrainian and South African biologist, embryologist, entomologist, professor of Kiev University and University of the Witwatersrand. Pioneer researcher in the field of experimental embryology, electron microscopy and developmental biology. He was author of popular textbook in embryology An Introduction to Embryology.

Boris Evseevitch Bychowsky was a Soviet scientist and parasitologist, specialist of fish parasites, especially monogeneans. He was director of the Institute of Zoology of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg (1962–1974). Bychowsky is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, mostly on systematics of monogeneans. His most famous work was his monography on monogeneans (1957), which was translated into English in 1961.

Boris Sergeyevich Stechkin (1891–1969) was Russian scientist, engineer and inventor. He developed a theory of heat engines and was involved in construction of many Soviet aircraft engines. He was also co-developer of Sikorsky Ilya Muromets and Lebedenko's Tsar Tank.
