She was part of the Brazil women's national volleyball team at the 1998 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan. Ana Belén Montes is a former American senior analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency in the United States and a convicted spy. On September 21, 2001, she was arrested and subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit espionage for the government of Cuba.
