Nobuo Uematsu is a Japanese musician and composer, best known for his contributions to the Final Fantasy video game series by Square Enix. A self-taught musician, he began playing the piano at the age of twelve, with English singer-songwriter Elton John as one of his biggest influences. Uematsu joined Square in 1986, where he first met Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. The two later worked together on many titles at the company, most notably in the Final Fantasy series. After nearly two decades with Square, Uematsu left in 2004 to create his own production company, which included the Dog Ear Records music label. He has since composed music as a freelancer for other games, including ones developed by Square Enix and Sakaguchi's development studio, Mistwalker.

Hitoshi Uematsu is a Japanese short track speed skater. He received a bronze medal on the 500 m at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.

Emiko Uematsu is a Japanese politician in the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), a member of the House of Councillors in the Diet. A native of Takamatsu, Kagawa and graduate of Kobe University, she ran unsuccessfully for the House of Councillors in 2004. She ran again in 2007 and was elected for the first time. She left the DPJ in 2013 because of a difference of political policy.

Taira Uematsu is a Japanese professional baseball coach for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is the first full-time Japanese coach in MLB history.

Toshie Uematsu is a female Japanese retired professional wrestler best known for her popularity in the 1990s and 2000s. She was one of the members of the first class of wrestlers trained by Chigusa Nagayo when Nagayo formed the GAEA Japan promotion. Uematsu finished her career in 2012, working for the Pro Wrestling Wave promotion. After her retirement, Uematsu continued working as a trainer for Pro Wrestling Wave.
