Her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, pioneered a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo. She was known for her vocal delivery and improvisational skills.

Jrue Randall Holiday is an American professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for one season with the UCLA Bruins before being selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2009 NBA draft with the 17th overall pick. Holiday played four seasons with Philadelphia, where he was named an NBA All-Star in his fourth season, before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013. Aaron Shawn Holiday is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. The guard played in high school in Los Angeles, where he was ranked among the top players nationally. Holiday was a starter as a college freshman in 2015–16 before becoming the Bruins' leading reserve the following year. As a junior, he returned to the starting lineup as the Bruins' point guard, and earned All-American recognition as well as first-team all-conference and all-defensive honors in the Pac-12. Holiday was selected by the Pacers in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft with the 23rd overall pick. He is the younger brother of NBA players Jrue and Justin Holiday.
