William Amhurst Tyssen-Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst of Hackney, was a British Conservative Member of Parliament and collector of books and works of art.

Mary Rothes Margaret Cecil, 2nd Baroness Amherst of Hackney, was a British hereditary peer, charity worker, amateur archaeologist and ornithologist. Thirty-two of the Tombs of the Nobles at Aswan were uncovered in her excavations and for many years were known as the "Cecil Tombs". She was one of the few English women to have held a peerage in her own right. The black crowned crane, balearica pavonia ceciliae was named in her honour.

Pearl Hackney was a British actress and the wife of comic actor Eric Barker. She was born in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, but spent much of her early life in Liverpool, Lancashire.

Francis Sheldon Hackney was a prominent U.S. educator. He was the Boies Professor of United States History at the University of Pennsylvania.
