Peder Claussøn Friis was a Norwegian clergyman, author and historian. He is most associated with his translation of Snorre Sturlessøns Norske Kongers Chronica.

Achton Friis was a Danish illustrator, painter and writer. He participated in the Denmark Expedition to Northeast Greenland in 1906–1908, creating a large number of works in the process, both landscape paintings and portraits, as well as a written account which was published in 1909. He later published several comprehensive and richly illustrated works with descriptions of the nature and cultural history of different parts of Denmark. In addition, he designed decorative works for the Bing & Grøndahl porcelain manufacturer.

Harald Trap Friis, who published as H. T. Friis, was a Danish-American radio engineer whose work at Bell Laboratories included pioneering contributions to radio propagation, radio astronomy, and radar. His two Friis formulas remain widely used.

Janus Friis is a Danish entrepreneur best known for co-founding the file-sharing application Kazaa, and the peer-to-peer telephony application Skype. In September 2005, he and his business partner Niklas Zennström sold Skype to eBay for $2.6B. Friis has maintained ownership interest in Skype through Silver Lake Partners, which sold Skype to Microsoft for $8.5 billion, in May 2011.

Michael Pedersen Friis was Prime Minister of Denmark from 5 April 1920 to 5 May 1920. His cabinet was called the Cabinet of M.P. Friis.

Agnete Friis is a former Danish badminton player. She became Danish Champion in the women's singles in 1941 and 1944 and nine times in women's doubles from 1941-1958. She played for the national team until the end of the 1950s. She also reached three All England Championship Finals in all three categories in 1953. In the singles final she lost to Marie Ussing; the two of them lost the doubles final to Iris Cooley and June White of Great Britain and in the mixed doubles with Poul Holm, they were defeated by Eddy Choong and June White.

Agnete Friis is a Danish writer who is best known for co-authoring Drengen i kufferten, or The Boy in the Suitcase with Lene Kaaberbøl. The book was short-listed for the Scandinavian Glass Key Award, competing against The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and received the 2008 Harald Mogensen award for best crime novel.
