Born into a prominent family, he had a variety of jobs before moving into comedy and started acting with National Lampoon. He became a key cast member in the first season of Saturday Night Live, where his recurring Weekend Update segment became a staple of the show. As both a performer and writer, he earned three Primetime Emmy Awards out of five nominations.

Ja'Marr Anthony Chase is an American football wide receiver for the LSU Tigers. As a sophomore in 2019, he led the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns and won the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the country's best receiver. He was also unanimously named to the 2019 College Football All-America Team.

Chase has also produced and written for such shows as The Rockford Files, I'll Fly Away, and Northern Exposure. He created the original series Almost Grown which aired for 10 episodes in 1988 and 1989. He has won seven Emmy Awards. Chase's film debut came in 2012 with Not Fade Away, followed by The Many Saints of Newark (2021), a prequel film to the TV series The Sopranos.
