Juan de Castro (1431–1506) was a Spanish Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal.

León Cortés Castro was a Costa Rican politician. He served as President of Costa Rica from 1936 to 1940. During his term he introduced new bank reforms, supported banana plantations in the South Pacific region, and established ports at Quepos and Golfito. His administration is often referred to as the "iron bars and cement administration" because of the various construction projects undertaken during his presidency, including the construction of the former International Airport of La Sabana. He was the last of a series of relatively conservative Presidents. He considered changes to allow him to pursue re-election as President, but ultimately backed down due to a Constitutional ban on consecutive terms. He was succeeded by Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia, who ultimately broke with tradition and substantially increased the scope of the social state.

Dom João de Castro was a Portuguese nobleman and the fourth viceroy of Portuguese India. He was called Castro Forte by the poet Luís de Camões. De Castro was the second son of Álvaro de Castro, the civil governor of Lisbon. His wife was Leonor de Coutinho.

José Plácido de Castro was a Brazilian soldier, surveyor, rubber producer and politician who led the armed revolt during the Acre War of 1902–03, when the Republic of Acre broke away from Bolivia. He was the president of the state of Acre just before and after it was purchased by Brazil. After the war he became extremely wealthy as a rubber producer, and made many enemies. He was assassinated in 1908. He is considered a hero of Brazil.

Brigadier Mariano José Manuel Bernardo Álvarez Bermúdez de Castro y López Aparicio was a Spanish military officer, and the military governor of Girona during the siege by the French during the War of Spanish Independence.

Felipe de Castro was a Spanish sculptor of Galician origin. He was among the first to introduce the Neoclassical style to Spain, and served as sculptor to King Ferdinand VI. Some sources give his year of birth as 1704.
