Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah is the eldest son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his wife Queen Saleha binti Mohammad Alam. He is the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam and is first in the line of succession to the Bruneian throne.

Saleha is the Queen consort of Brunei as the wife of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the current Sultan of Brunei. She was the daughter of Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammad Alam and Pengiran Anak Hajah Besar. After her husband was crowned as the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei, she succeeded her mother-in-law, Pengiran Anak Damit, as Raja Isteri. She is the mother of Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah.

Abdul Kahar was the sixth Sultan of Brunei. He ruled from 1524 until stepping down from the throne in 1530 to allow his nephew and adopted-son Saiful Rijal to become Sultan .. When his son ascended to the throne, Abdul Kahar acted as Regent with the title Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan. After his demise in 1578, he was known as Marhum Keramat.

Sharīf ‘Alī ibn ‘Ajlān ibn Rumaithah ibn Muḥammad was the third Sultan of Brunei, and son-in-law of the second Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Ahmad. He was also a scholar of Arab descent, originating from Ta'if in the Hejaz.

His reign marked the Golden Age of Brunei and saw the Sultanate become the superpower of the Malay archipelago. It is said that his name was kept by his father after the Ba'Alawi Sayyed clan Ba-Awalqhiyyah who had gained control over much of the Yemeni kingdom of Hadhramaut.
