Roger Quilliot was a French politician. He served as Housing Minister from May 22 to June 23, 1981, under former French President François Mitterrand. He was also a Socialist member of the French Senate for the Puy-de-Dôme from 1974 to 1981, then from 1983 to April 1998, and again from September 1986 to 1998. He also served as the Mayor of Clermont-Ferrand from 1973 to 1998.

Jean Malaquais was a French novelist. He was born as Wladimir Jan Pavel Malacki in Warsaw in 1908 of a non-religious Polish family of Jewish descent.

Walter Bryce Gallie was a Scottish social theorist, political theorist, and philosopher.

Maurice Schumann was a French politician, journalist, writer, and hero of the Second World War who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs under Georges Pompidou from 22 June 1969 to 15 March 1973. Schumann was a member of the Christian democratic Popular Republican Movement.

John "Jackie" Blanchflower was a Northern Irish footballer. He graduated from Manchester United's youth system and played for the club on 117 occasions, winning two league titles, before his career was cut short due to injuries sustained in the Munich air disaster. He was also capped 12 times at senior level by Northern Ireland.

As a Lieder singer, he was a gifted interpreter of Schubert, including his song-cycles Die schöne Müllerin and Die Winterreise and the collection of songs Schwanengesang, as well as of Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler. He also appeared frequently as a soloist in Bach's Passions and Brahms' A German Requiem.
