William Crookes
Sir William Crookes was a British chemist and physicist who attended the Royal College of Chemistry in London, and worked on spectroscopy. He was a pioneer of vacuum tubes, inventing the Crookes tube which was made in 1875. This was a foundational discovery that eventually changed the whole of chemistry and physics.

Prince Francis Joseph of Braganza was a member of the exiled branch of House of Braganza and an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army. During his life he was involved in a number of incidents ranging from sex scandals to swindles.
Mary Rothes Margaret Cecil, Baroness Amherst of Hackney
Mary Rothes Margaret Cecil, 2nd Baroness Amherst of Hackney, was a British hereditary peer, charity worker, amateur archaeologist and ornithologist. Thirty-two of the Tombs of the Nobles at Aswan were uncovered in her excavations and for many years were known as the "Cecil Tombs". She was one of the few English women to have held a peerage in her own right. The black crowned crane, balearica pavonia ceciliae was named in her honour.

Miles Conway Moore was the 14th and last Territorial Governor of Washington Territory. He served seven months in office as governor, his two-year term ending prematurely when Washington attained statehood in November 1889.
