John Joseph Cardinal Carberry was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as archbishop of the Archdiocese of St. Louis in Missouri from 1968 to 1979, and was created a cardinal in 1969. He previously served as bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana from 1957 to 1965 and bishop of the Diocese of Columbus in Ohio from 1965 to 1968.

K. Pattabhi Jois was an Indian yoga teacher and Sanskrit scholar who developed and popularized the vinyasa style of yoga known as Ashtanga Yoga. In 1948, Jois established the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India. Pattabhi Jois is one of a short list of Indians instrumental in establishing modern yoga as exercise in the 20th century, along with B. K. S. Iyengar, another pupil of Krishnamacharya in Mysore.
