Kostiantyn Merkuriyovych Sytnyk was a Ukrainian and Soviet scientist and academician, a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine who in 1970-2003 was director of the Botanic Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Sytnyk also worked as a politician, and served as the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic from 1980 to 1985.

Colonel John Douglas Slim, 2nd Viscount Slim, was a British peer, soldier and businessman. He was one of the 92 hereditary peers in the House of Lords, elected to remain after the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999. In 1970, he succeeded to his father's title. He sat as a crossbencher.

She was a founding member of the Rheingau Musik Festival, made parts of Schloss Johannisberg available as concert venues for the festival and served as the president of its Kuratorium until her death.
