He is perhaps best known for the unscrupulous and obsequious Carpetbagger in Clint Eastwood's 1976 iconic western The Outlaw Josey Wales, another of his memorable performances was that of a bank manager in Don Siegel's 1973 bank heist film Charley Varrick.
