Superior of the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow from 1995 to 2018. Bishop Tikhon is often referred as the personal confessor of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Mie Kitahara is a Japanese actress. She appeared in more than 60 films between 1952 and 1960. She is best known for co-starring in a series of films with Yujiro Ishihara, one of postwar Japan's most famous stars, starting with Crazed Fruit in 1956. They married in 1960 and she retired from acting, assuming her married name, Makiko Ishihara (石原まき子).

Ei-ichi Negishi is a Manchurian-born Japanese chemist who has spent most of his career at Purdue University in the United States. He is the Herbert C. Brown Distinguished Professor and Director of the Negishi-Brown Institute at Purdue. He is best known for his discovery of the Negishi coupling. He was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for palladium catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis" jointly with Richard F. Heck and Akira Suzuki.

He is a two-time silver medalist in the individual kata event at the World Championships, a six-time gold medalist in his event at the European Championships and a two-time gold medalist in this event at the European Games. He is scheduled to represent Spain at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Kenneth Hsien-yung Pai is a Chinese writer from Taiwan who has been described as a "melancholy pioneer." He was born in Guilin, Guangxi at the cusp of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Pai's father was the famous Kuomintang (KMT) general Bai Chongxi, whom he later described as a "stern, Confucian father" with "some soft spots in his heart." Pai was diagnosed with tuberculosis at the age of seven, during which time he would have to live in a separate house from his siblings. He lived with his family in Chongqing, Shanghai, and Nanjing before moving to the British-controlled Hong Kong in 1948 as CPC forces turned the tide of the Chinese Civil War. In 1952, Pai and his family resettled in Taiwan, where the KMT had relocated the Republic of China after defeat by the Communists in 1949.
