Zaki al-Ghul was a Palestinian politician based in Jordan. Born in 1926 in Silwan neighbourhood, Jerusalem, he graduated from the Palestinian Institute of Law in 1948 and held a doctorate from John F. Kennedy University in 2006. Since 1999 he served as the titular mayor of East Jerusalem. Due to the forced shutting down of all councils related to the East Jerusalem municipal services by Israeli forces, al-Ghul held what constitutes a purely formal position or title without any practical or real authority.

Sheikh Abdullah Awad Al Juhany is one of the Imams of the Grand Mosque Masjid al-Haram in Mecca. He holds a B.A from the faculty of Qur'an at The Islamic University of Madinah, and a doctorate (Ph.D) from Umm al-Qura University in Mecca.

'Abd al-'Azim 'Anis (1923–2009) was a leading Egyptian cultural critic and Marxist involved with the Communist Party of Egypt. He was detained in Egyptian prisons from the early 1960s due to his political activities. 'Anis called for "unity of all the nationalist and progressive forces including, naturally, the Arab communists."
