Andrey Petrovich Kapitsa was a Russian geographer and Antarctic explorer, discoverer of Lake Vostok, the largest subglacial lake in Antarctica. He was a member of the Kapitsa family, a scientific dynasty in Russia.

Dale Stetina was a United States national team cyclist in the late 1970s through the 1980s. He is a two-time U.S. National Road Champion and two-time winner of one of America's greatest bicycle races, the Coors Classic of Boulder, Colorado. He also won the Mt. Washington Bicycle Grand Prix.
