Marek Hamšík is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for the Chinese Super League club Dalian Professional and the Slovakia national team, for which he is captain.

Peter Dubovský was a Slovak footballer who played as a forward.

Dušan Pašek was a Slovak professional ice hockey player who played HC Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak Extraliga.

Zuzana Čaputová, is a Slovak politician, lawyer, and environmental activist who has been President of Slovakia since 15 June 2019. Čaputová is the first woman to hold the presidency, as well as the youngest president in the history of Slovakia, elected at the age of 45.

Alexander Dubček was a Slovak politician who served as the First Secretary of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) from January 1968 to April 1969. He attempted to reform the communist government during the Prague Spring but was forced to resign following the Warsaw Pact invasion in August 1968.

Dominika Cibulková is a Slovak former professional tennis player. Known for her quick and aggressive style of play, she won eight WTA Tour singles titles and two on the ITF Circuit.

Daniela Hantuchová is a retired Slovak tennis player and commentator. She turned professional in 1999 and had her breakthrough year in 2002, when she won her first WTA tournament, the Indian Wells Masters, defeating Martina Hingis in the final and becoming the lowest-ranked player to ever win the tournament. She also reached the quarterfinals of that year's Wimbledon Championships and US Open, ending the year in the top ten. She was part of the Slovak team that won the 2002 Fed Cup and the 2005 Hopman Cup.

Peter Lorre was a Hungarian-American actor. Lorre began his stage career in Vienna before moving to Germany where he worked first on the stage, then in film in Berlin in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Lorre caused an international sensation in the German film M (1931), directed by Fritz Lang, in which he portrayed a serial killer who preys on little girls.

Stanley Mikita was a Slovak-born Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Chicago Black Hawks of the National Hockey League, generally regarded as the best centre of the 1960s. In 2017, he was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players. He was the first Slovak born player to win the Stanley Cup, which he did in 1961.
