Andrew Robertson Irvine is a former President of the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU), and a former Scottish international rugby player. He earned fifty one Scotland caps, captaining the team on fifteen occasions, and scored 250 points for Scotland. He went on three British Lions tours.

Ross Campbell is a Scottish former professional footballer. Campbell started his career with Scottish Premier League club Hibernian and represented Scotland at the under–20 and under–21 levels. He went on to play for Swedish club Ostersunds FK, Dunfermline Athletic and Dumbarton.

Grant Robert Murray is a Scottish former professional football player and manager who is currently assistant manager at Edinburgh City. His versatility saw him play in several positions during his career, such as a defensive midfielder and at fullback, although he was primarily considered to be a centre back.

Thomas Telford FRS, FRSE was a Scottish civil engineer, architect and stonemason, and road, bridge and canal builder. After establishing himself as an engineer of road and canal projects in Shropshire, he designed numerous infrastructure projects in his native Scotland, as well as harbours and tunnels. Such was his reputation as a prolific designer of highways and related bridges, he was dubbed The Colossus of Roads, and, reflecting his command of all types of civil engineering in the early 19th century, he was elected as the first President of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a post he held for 14 years until his death.

Sir Patrick Geddes was a Scottish biologist, sociologist, geographer, philanthropist and pioneering town planner. He is known for his innovative thinking in the fields of urban planning and sociology.
