List of Famous people born in Russia

Alexander Vladimirovich Popov is a Russian former pair skater. He teamed up with Arina Ushakova in 2000. After training under Liudmila Kalinina, they moved to the husband-and-wife team of Valentina and Valeri Tiukov, who coached them in Perm. Ushakova/Popov won four medals on the JGP series – one gold, two silver, and one bronze – and qualified twice for the JGP Final. Their partnership ended in 2005.

Aleksei Valeryevich Nikolaev is a former Russian football referee. He has been a FIFA international referee from 2007 to 2017. In 2011, he was selected for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico. Nikolaev has also officiated in 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Igor V. Dolgachev is a Russian–American mathematician specializing in algebraic geometry. He has been a professor at the University of Michigan since 1978. He introduced Dolgachev surfaces in 1981.

Alexandr Vasilievich Kolobnev is a Russian former professional road bicycle racer. His major victories include winning the 2007 Monte Paschi Eroica, a stage of the 2007 Paris–Nice and he is a two-time winner of the Russian National Road Race Championships. In 2011, he was provisionally suspended after testing positive for a potential drug masking agent. He was cleared of intentional doping by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in February 2012, and returned to Team Katusha in March 2012.

Viktor Stanislavovich Koval was a Russian-Soviet writer, poet, artist, and actor.
