Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga is a Latvian politician who served as the sixth President of Latvia from 1999 to 2007. She is the first woman to hold the post. She was elected President of Latvia in 1999 and re-elected for the second term in 2003.

Deniss Vasiļjevs
Deniss Vasiļjevs is a Latvian figure skater. He is the 2016 Youth Olympics silver medalist. He is also the 2015 CS Tallinn Trophy bronze medalist, the 2016–17 and 2017–18 Cup of Tyrol champion, the 2018 Minsk-Arena Ice Star champion, the 2020 Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and a four-time Latvian national champion. He finished in the top ten at the 2017 European Championships, in the top five at the 2018 European Championships and in the top ten at the 2018 World Championships.
Petras Raslanas
Petras Raslanas was a Lithuanian Communist active during the Soviet occupation of the Baltic states, when he served in the NKVD. He was convicted of the crime of genocide in 2001.

Pēteris Skudra
Pēteris "Peter" Skudra is a Latvian former professional ice hockey goaltender and head coach. During a playing career that lasted from 1994 to 2007 he played for several teams in Latvia, Russia and North America. After starting his career in Latvia, Skudra moved to the North American minor leagues in 1994. He signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1997 and made his debut that year. Over the next six seasons Skudra played for the Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, and Vancouver Canucks. In 2003 he moved to Russia, playing the last four seasons of his career. Playing in the NHL primarily as a back-up goalie, Skudra appeared in 146 games during his career.
Andris Treimanis
Andris Treimanis is a Latvian professional football referee. He has been a full international for FIFA since 2011. He refereed the final of the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.

Theodor Ivanovich Nette was a Soviet diplomatic courier of NKID, who died in a terrorist attack on the Soviet train while delivering diplomatic mail to Berlin. Vladimir Mayakovsky published a poem praising his death – "To Comrade Nette, the Man and the Ship" (1926) saying he wants to die like Nette.
