Gottfried Freiherr van Swieten was a Dutch-born Austrian diplomat, librarian, and government official who served the Holy Roman Empire during the 18th century. He was an enthusiastic amateur musician and is best remembered today as the patron of several great composers of the Classical era, including Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven.

Thomas Olde Heuvelt is a Dutch horror writer. His short stories have received the Hugo Award for Best Novelette, the Dutch Paul Harland Prize, and have been nominated for two additional Hugo Awards and a World Fantasy Award.

Frits van Dongen is an architect from the Netherlands. He designed a canal-side municipal theatre for the city of Leeuwarden with his firm De Architecten Cie. The building he designed that is known as The Whale is in an area known as the Oostelijke Handelskade that includes "some of The Netherlands' most cutting-edge housing developments including Piraeus, designed by Hans Kollhoff and Christian Rappit, "Hoop, Liefde en Fortuin" by Rudy Uytenhaak" and one of Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurants. R otterdam Maaskant Prize for Young Architects 2005 winner Oliver Thill and his architecture partner André Kempe, both from East Germany, both worked in van Dongen's office.

Lia van Schie is a retired speed skater from the Netherlands who was active between 1989 and 1995. She competed at the 1992 Winter Olympics in the 1500, 3000 and 5000 m and finished in 16th, 9th and 8th place, respectively. She won a bronze medal at the World All-Round Speed Skating Championships for Women in 1991.
