She won gold at the World Championships one year later. By doing so, she became the first Dutch woman to win a world short track title at an individual event.

He directed "Submission: Part 1", a short film written by Somali writer and politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali, which criticized the treatment of women in Islam in strong terms. On 2 November 2004, Van Gogh was assassinated by Mohammed Bouyeri, a Dutch-Moroccan Islamist who objected to the film's controversial message. The last film Van Gogh had completed before his death, 06/05, was a fictional exploration of the assassination of Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn (1948–2002). It was released posthumously in December 2004, a month after Van Gogh's assassination.

Danny Desmond Makkelie is a Dutch professional football referee. Besides refereeing he works as a police inspector in Rotterdam and as a referee development coordinator for the Royal Dutch Football Association. He has been a FIFA listed referee since 2011 and since then he took charge of the final of the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship as a UEFA Elite referee. On 18 August 2020, UEFA named 37-years old Makkelie as the referee for the 2020 UEFA Europa League Final between Sevilla and Inter Milan. Previous he was an additional assistant referee in the 2018 UEFA Europa League Final. He also refereed the semi-final, between Brasil's Palmeiras and UANL from Mexico, in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar.
