Yury A. Dmitriev
Yury Alexeyevich Dmitriev is a civil rights activist and local historian in Karelia. Since the early 1990s, he has worked to locate the execution sites of Stalin's Great Terror and identify as many as possible of the buried victims they contain. As a result of his commitment, Karelia's past is better documented in this respect than almost any other part of the Russian Federation.

Parfenchikov was appointed to the post of acting governor after Aleksandr Hudilainen resigned in 2017. He was later confirmed in the position in a general election, where he was a candidate representing the ruling United Russia party. Prior to his appointment as governor, Parfenchikov was the head of the Federal Court Bailiff Service.

Aulis Sallinen is a Finnish contemporary classical music composer. His music has been variously described as "remorselessly harsh", a "beautifully crafted amalgam of several 20th-century styles", and "neo-romantic". Sallinen studied at the Sibelius Academy, where his teachers included Joonas Kokkonen. He has had works commissioned by the Kronos Quartet, and has also written seven operas, eight symphonies, concertos for violin, cello, flute, horn, and English horn, as well as several chamber works. He won the Nordic Council Music Prize in 1978 for his opera Ratsumies.
