Saint Romulus of Fiesole is venerated as the patron saint of Fiesole, Italy. Romulus was probably a local deacon, priest, or bishop of the 1st century.

Francesco Feo was an Italian composer, known chiefly for his operas. He was born and died in Naples, where most of his operas were premièred.

Giovanni Soglia Ceroni was an Italian cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Gaetano Greco was an Italian Baroque composer. He was the younger brother of Rocco Greco. Both brothers were trained at, and later taught at the Poveri di Gesu` Cristo conservatory in Naples. Gaetano Greco's teachers included Giovanni Salvatore and Gennaro Ursino, and possibly Francesco Provenzale. It is also possible that he studied with Alessandro Scarlatti. Leonardo Vinci, Giuseppe Porsile, Nicola Porpora, and Domenico Scarlatti were among his pupils. His successor at the conservatory was Francesco Durante.

Giovanni Aurispa Piciunerio was an Italian historian and savant of the 15th century. He is remembered in particular as a promoter of the revival of the study of Greek in Italy. It is to Aurispa that the world is indebted for preserving the greater part of our knowledge of the Greek classics.
