Abu Musa Muhammad ibn Harun al-Rashid, better known by his regnal name of al-Amin, was the sixth Abbasid Caliph. He succeeded his father, Harun al-Rashid, in 809 and ruled until he was deposed and killed in 813, during the civil war by his half-brother, al-Ma'mun.

Adnan al-Pachachi or Adnan Muzahim Ameen al-Pachachi was a veteran Iraqi and Emirati politician and diplomat who served as Foreign Minister. Pachachi was Iraq's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1959 to 1965 and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq from 1965 to 1967, during the Six-Day War with Israel; he again served as Permanent Representative to the UN from 1967 to 1969. After 1971, he spent a long period in exile. Following the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Pachachi was an important figure in Iraqi politics, often described as Iraq's elder statesman. He rejected the role of president in the Iraqi Interim Government.

Al-Kisā’ī (الكسائي) Abū al-Ḥasan ‘Alī ibn Ḥamzah ibn ‘Abd Allāh ibn ‘Uthman, called Bahman ibn Fīrūz, surnamed Abū ‘Abd Allāh, and Abū al-Ḥasan ‘Alī ibn Hamzah of al-Kūfah was preceptor to the sons of caliph Hārūn al-Rashīd and one of the ‘Seven Readers’ or ‘authorized’ Qur’ānic reader. He founded the Kufi school of Arabic grammar, the rival philology school to the Basri school founded by Sibawayh.

Hadi al-Amiri is the head and secretary general of the Badr Organization, a Shiite organization based in Iraq, he heads the Shiite political organization Badr and his armed group, the Badr Brigade.

Ali Abdul-Amir Allawi is an Iraqi politician who serves as Finance Minister since May 2020. He was Minister of Trade and Minister of Defense in the cabinet appointed by the Interim Iraq Governing Council from September 2003 until 2004, and subsequently Minister of Finance in the Iraqi Transitional Government between 2005 and 2006.

Latif Yahia is an Iraqi-born author and former combatant in the Iran–Iraq War. Two journalists have disputed this and other claims made by Yahia. He is best known for being the alleged former body double of Uday Hussein, the son of Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.

Sasson Gabai is an Israeli actor. He is the winner of an Ophir Award, Asia Pacific Screen Award (nominated), European Film Awards and Jerusalem Film Festival in 2007 as Best Actor in a highly acclaimed Israeli film The Band's Visit.

Barzan Ibrahim Hassan al-Tikriti, also known as Barazan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, Barasan Ibrahem Alhassen and Barzan Hassan, was one of three half-brothers of Saddam Hussein, and a leader of the Mukhabarat, the Iraqi intelligence service. Despite falling out of favour with Saddam at one time, he was believed to have been a close presidential adviser at the time of his capture. On 15 January 2007, he was hanged for crimes against humanity. The rope decapitated him because wrong measurements were used in relation to how far he was dropped from the platform.

Muthaffar Abd al-Majid al-Nawab is an Iraqi poet and political critic.

Ahmed Al-Waeli Al-Laithi Al-Kinani (1928–2003) was a prominent Arab Shia Islamic Scholar, who preached the Islamic thoughts through books and lectures. He was also a poet. His poems represent his personality, spirituality and belief.
