Paulina "Poulli" Chiziane is an author of novels and short stories in the Portuguese language. She was awarded the 2021 Camões Prize for literature, awarded to writers from Portuguese-speaking countries.

Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane was the President of the Mozambican Liberation Front (FRELIMO) from 1962, the year that FRELIMO was founded in Tanzania, until his assassination in 1969. He was an anthropologist by profession, and worked as a history and sociology professor at Syracuse University.

Júlio Duarte Langa is a prelate of the Catholic Church. He is the Bishop Emeritus of Xai-Xai, Mozambique, where he served as Bishop from 24 October 1976 until his retirement on 12 July 2004.
