He is known for his work in harmonic analysis and partial differential equations. He is the current President of the International Mathematical Union.

Randall Lee White is an American former professional football player who was a defensive tackle. He played college football for the Maryland Terrapins from 1971 to 1974, and played professionally for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL) from 1975 to 1988. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame (1994), the Pro Football Hall of Fame (1994) and the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.

He is president of the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI), and vice-president and treasurer of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in Great Britain. Pavel Vladimirovich Vinogradov is a cosmonaut and former commander of the International Space Station. As of May 2013, he has flown into space three times, aboard Mir and the International Space Station, and is one of the top 10 astronauts in terms of total time in space. Vinogradov has also conducted seven spacewalks in his cosmonaut career, and holds the record for the oldest person to perform a spacewalk.

He is a Fellow of King's College, Cambridge where his research investigates quantum information science. A pioneer of his field, he is the co-author of the Deutsch–Jozsa algorithm and one of the co-inventors of quantum teleportation.
