Andrew Mattei Gleason (1921–2008) was an American mathematician who made fundamental contributions to widely varied areas of mathematics, including the solution of Hilbert's fifth problem, and was a leader in reform and innovation in math­e­mat­ics teaching at all levels. Gleason's theorem in quantum logic and the Greenwood–Gleason graph, an important example in Ramsey theory, are named for him.

Jean Pauline Haden-Guest, Baroness Haden-Guest was an American theatre director and television executive. She was the Director of the American National Theater and Academy and served as the Vice President and Head of Talent at CBS. Haden-Guest was the second wife of Peter Haden-Guest, 4th Baron Haden-Guest.

Gunhild Kyle was a Swedish historian. She was Sweden's first professor of women's history at the University of Gothenburg.

Tibor Varga was a violinist, conductor, and world renowned music teacher who developed pedagogic methods for teaching string music. He was a founding member of the string department in the Detmold music conservatory.

John Conrad Russell, 4th Earl Russell was the eldest son of the philosopher and mathematician Bertrand Russell and his second wife, Dora Black. His middle name was a tribute to the writer Joseph Conrad, whom his father had long admired. He was the great-grandson of the 19th century British Whig Prime Minister Lord John Russell. He succeeded to the earldom on the death of his father on 2 February 1970.
