Elisabeth Leonskaja is a Soviet and Austrian pianist. She was born to a family of Jewish and Polish extraction living in Tbilisi, then the capital of the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Dusa McDuff FRS CorrFRSE is an English mathematician who works on symplectic geometry. She was the first recipient of the Ruth Lyttle Satter Prize in Mathematics, was a Noether Lecturer, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society.

Alexey I. Ekimov is a Russian solid state physicist who discovered the semiconductor nanocrystals known as quantum dots, while working at the Vavilov State Optical Institute. He was awarded the 1975 USSR State Prize in Science and Engineering for work on electron spin orientation in semiconductors. He is co-recipient of the 2006 R. W. Wood prize of the Optical Society of America for "discovery of nanocrystal quantum dots and pioneering studies of their electronic and optical properties". He currently works for Nanocrystals Technology Inc.

Gennady Sergeyevich Orlov is a Russian sports journalist and a former Soviet footballer. He has lived in Leningrad since 1966 and has been a commentator since 1974. Orlov is best known for being a football commentator on Leningrad Television and, subsequently, Petersburg – Channel 5 for many years.
