Michael James Grier is an American former professional ice hockey winger and current general manager of the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Grier played for four teams in the NHL – the Edmonton Oilers, Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres, and San Jose Sharks. Primarily a checking forward, he played 1,060 NHL games over 14 NHL seasons. Grier was the first African-American player in the history of the NHL to exclusively train in his home country, the United States.
