He is well–known for having won the French Championship a joint–record seven times, along with only his Saint-Étienne teammate Jean-Michel Larqué, as well as Thiago Silva and Marco Verratti of Paris Saint–Germain, and Grégory Coupet, Juninho, and Sidney Govou of Lyon.
