Muriel Degauque was a Belgian woman from Charleroi and a convert to Islam. La Derniere Heure, a Belgian newspaper, claimed on December 1, 2005 that she was a suicide bomber in Iraq. According to Belgian authorities, a Belgian woman committed a suicide car bomb attack on November 9, 2005 against a U.S. military convoy south of Baghdad. The Belgian was the only person killed, but one American soldier was injured.

Muriel Marland-Militello was a French politician, member of the National Assembly of France. She represented Alpes-Maritimes's 2nd constituency from 2002 to 2012 as a member of the Union for a Popular Movement. She was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). In this capacity she asked Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a question about the protection of minorities in Turkey during his appearance before the PACE in April 2011 and drew a dismissing response from him. Later, she disclosed towards media that she could have Armenian origin.
