Harrison spent his entire career with the Colts, most of them with quarterback Peyton Manning, and is widely considered one of the greatest and most productive wide receivers in NFL history. He earned a Super Bowl ring with the team in Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears. An 8-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro member, Harrison held the record for most receptions in a single season (143) for over ten years, before it was broken by Michael Thomas (149) in 2019.

He played one season of college basketball for North Carolina before being drafted second overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2005 NBA draft. After seven seasons with the Hawks, he was traded to the Utah Jazz. He spent two seasons with the Jazz before joining the Hornets in 2014. In February 2020 he joined the Bucks after spending 5½ seasons with the Hornets. He retired following the end of the 2019–20 NBA season.
