Lonnie George Johnson is an African American inventor, aerospace engineer, and entrepreneur whose work includes a U.S. Air Force-term of service and a twelve-year stint at NASA, where he worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He invented the Super Soaker water gun in 1990, which has been among the world's bestselling toys ever since.

Lonnie Walker IV is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played high school basketball for Reading High School in Pennsylvania. He signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Miami. In January 2017 Walker was selected as a McDonald's All-American.

Lonnie G. Bunch III is an American educator and historian. Bunch is the 14th Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, the first African American and first historian to serve as head of the Smithsonian. He has spent most of his career as a history museum curator and administrator.
