Johan August Arfwedson was a Swedish chemist who discovered the chemical element lithium in 1817 by isolating it as a salt.

Johan Nygaardsvold was a Norwegian politician from the Labour Party who served as Prime Minister of Norway from 1935 to 1945. From June 1940 until May 1945, he oversaw the Norwegian Government-in-exile from London as head of the Nygaardsvold cabinet during the Occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany.

Johan Larsson is a Swedish musician, best known for being the former bassist and occasional backing vocalist of In Flames, being a member from 1993 until 1997. He was also the original member of HammerFall from 1993–1994, quitting before the band released any material and member of Purgamentum, also providing vocals. He was also the guitarists of the bands Powerpig and Carnal Grief from 1997-1999. He is currently the vocalist of the band Carrion Carnage – currently, the band is on hiatus.

Count Johan Adam Cronstedt was a Swedish Lieutenant General and governor of Östergötland County. He joined up aged 14 and participated in the Russo-Swedish War (1788–90), but he is most notable for his part in the 1808-09 Finnish War and his command of the Savo Brigade.

Johan Henrik Nebelong was a Danish architect. He worked in Norway from 1840 to 1853 and was best known for interior design work on Oscarshall (1847–1852). Nebelong also taught at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen.
