List of Famous people named Hovhannes

Hovhannes Imastaser, also known as Hovhannes Sarkavag, was a medieval Armenian multi-disciplinary scholar known for his works on philosophy, theology, mathematics, cosmology, and literature. Imastaser was also a gifted hymnologist and pedagogue.

Hovhannes Tumanyan was an Armenian poet, writer, translator, and literary and public activist. He is the national poet of Armenia.

Hovhannes Bachkov is an Armenian amateur boxer. He competed in the light-welterweight division at the 2016 Summer Olympics, but was eliminated in the second bout. He won the bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Hovhannes Kajaznuni, or Hovhannes Katchaznouni, was the first Prime Minister of the First Republic of Armenia from June 6, 1918 to August 7, 1919. He was a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.

Hovhannes Bedros XVIII Kasparian, I.P.C.B. English: John Petros XVIII Kasparian, French: Jean Pierre XVIII Kasparian was the Armenian Catholic Catholicos-Patriarch of Cilicia from 1982-98 when he retired. He died in 2011.
