He also created the distributed revision control system Git and the scuba dive logging and planning software Subsurface.

Nils Ole Hilmer Torvalds is a Finnish politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP). He is a member of the Swedish People's Party of Finland, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.

Ole Torvalds was a Finnish-Swedish journalist and poet. He was the father of journalist-politician Nils Torvalds and grandfather of software engineer Linus Torvalds famous for the Linux kernel.
