Alberto Moravia was an Italian novelist and journalist. His novels explored matters of modern sexuality, social alienation and existentialism. Moravia is best known for his debut novel Gli indifferenti (1929) and for the anti-fascist novel Il Conformista, the basis for the film The Conformist (1970) directed by Bernardo Bertolucci. Other novels of his adapted for the cinema are Agostino, filmed with the same title by Mauro Bolognini in 1962; Il disprezzo, filmed by Jean-Luc Godard as Le Mépris ; La Noia (Boredom), filmed with that title by Damiano Damiani in 1963 and released in the US as The Empty Canvas in 1964 and La ciociara, filmed by Vittorio De Sica as Two Women (1960). Cédric Kahn's L'Ennui (1998) is another version of La Noia.

Jobst of Moravia, a member of the House of Luxembourg, was Margrave of Moravia from 1375, Duke of Luxembourg and Elector of Brandenburg from 1388 as well as elected King of Germany from 1410 until his death. Jobst was an ambitious and versatile ruler, who in the early 15th century dominated the ongoing struggles within the Luxembourg dynasty and around the German throne.

Prokop of Moravia, or Prokop of Luxembourg, a member of the House of Luxembourg, was Margrave of Moravia from 1375 until his death in 1405 and the provincial governor of the kingdom.

Elizabeth of Moravia was the second daughter and third issue of John Henry of Moravia, and his second wife Margaret of Opava. She became Margravine consort of Meissen by her marriage to William I, Margrave of Meissen (1366).

Vladislaus II was the margrave of Moravia from 1222 to his death. He was member of the Přemyslid dynasty, son of King Ottokar I of Bohemia and his second wife, Constance of Hungary.

Udalrich of Olomouc was Duke in Hradec Králové from 1152 till 1153 and between 1173–1177 ruled the appanage of Olomouc, one of three ducal regions in Moravia, then part of the Duchy of Bohemia.

Vladislaus III (1227–1247) was Margrave of Moravia and heir to the Bohemian Kingdom of the Přemyslid dynasty.
