A right-handed batsman, Buttler usually fields as a wicket-keeper and has represented England in Test, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket. Buttler served as vice-captain of the England squad during the 2019 Cricket World Cup, where England became world champions for the first time in their history. Buttler currently plays for Lancashire in English domestic cricket, having previously represented Somerset, and also appears for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
